About Me

Dr. Beatrice Burke, MD is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She enjoys managing pregnancies and delivering babies, especially recognizing and actively managing high-risk situations for patients in San Mateo, California out of Medical Arts OB/GYN. In addition to obstetrics, she has a special interest in female endocrine disorders and the use of hysteroscopy for the management of intrauterine pathology. “When I see patients for annual visits I am attentive to preventive health care measures. I enjoy taking care of women and female conditions. I also like that private practice in OBGYN allows me to know patients through office practice, while still delivering babies and performing surgeries. Few other specialties allow such diverse opportunities.”

“My father was an obstetrician gynecologist (OBGYN) in Connecticut. I worked in his office and became very familiar with the specialty. When I attended Cornell University Medical College (the same medical school as his), I found the rotation in obstetrics and gynecology was by far the most attractive.”

She trained with Robert Neuwirth, M.D., an early pioneer of hysteroscopic surgery, at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital in New York. Dr. Burke has been practicing with MAOG since 2007; previously she was in private practice in Daly City.

She is also a member of the San Mateo County Medical Society, the California Medical Association, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the San Francisco Gynecological Society. She has been named a "Top Doctor" by Castle Connolly/San Francisco Magazine since 2014.

Dr. Burke lives on the Peninsula with her husband.  They have two grown children. She reports her household is never without a dog, or two. She also enjoys reading and music: “A few years ago, I began to take piano lessonsfulfilling a long-time desire to play piano. I also do a little gardening and running. I am a member of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society.”
